The Premier Soccer League (PSL) in South Africa is the flagship soccer competition and attracts millions of fans every week who support their favourite teams. The PSL also have a huge following in the betting markets as soccer fans put their money where their mouth in backing the South African Premier division teams. Match result bet: This is the most traditional type of bet whereby there are three possible outcomes, i.e. home win (H), draw(x) or away win (A). The under goals option is often a winner in the PSL as teams do not find the net too often in this league. When teams like 5 time winners Sundowns are playing one of the weaker teams then the over goals could be a better bet as it could be a lopsided contest.
Both Teams to Score (BTTS): This is a simple bet that involves predicting whether both teams will score at least one goal each in a match. The BTTS bet can be a lucrative bet especially when two attacking teams are playing as the likelihood of both teams scoring is very high. On the other hand, if two defence minded teams are playing, then its best to avoid this type of bet.
Correct score bet: This is a challenging bet where you predict the exact scoreline of a game. The major attraction of this bet is the excellent odds although it is a difficult bet to win.
Handicap betting: In soccer this is one of the most popular bets when a strong team faces a much weaker team. The weaker team is given a goals advantage to make the betting more interesting. The stronger team must win by a certain number of goals for the bet to be successful.
Anytime Goal scorer bet: This involves betting on a specific player to score a goal in a match. You can also bet on the first or last goal scorer. These bets have extremely high odds due to the difficulty of predicting the goal scorers.
